North Church, 2 Congress Street, Portsmouth

The Historic Portsmouth Chamber Music 2018 Series welcomes back the Omer String Quartet who come with a program they will be debuting in New York City and Washington DC next winter. We will hear the group perform Haydn’s “String Quartet No. 2 in C Major,” Schumann’s lyrical and Romantic “Quartet No. 1” by the young American composer Chris Rogerson. The program will end with Beethoven’s “Gross Fugue in B Flat Major,” originally the closing movement of opus 130, but extremely difficult to play and so controversial in its time that Beethoven’s publisher had him write an alternate end for the op. 130!
