What Hawthorne Read

This traveling exhibit from the Salem Athenaeum explores the circulation records and the hundreds of books checked out of the Salem Athenaeum’s library by Nathaniel Hawthorne and then reveals how these specific titles influenced Hawthorne’s own writings. Curated by Elaine von Bruns.

Exhibit opens March 16, 2018 with a reception from 5 – 7 p.m.

Randall Room Exhibition Gallery

Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The research library and the exhibition gallery are on the third floor of the building at 6-8 Market Square adjoining the Athenaeum building.
