The Portsmouth Athenaeum is delighted to welcome celebrated poet Mary Buchinger for a special reading on Sunday, April 26. Mary is the author of six full-length books of poetry. She served on the board of the New England Poetry Club for many years and presently teaches at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston.
Mary will read from her new book, There Is Only the Sacred and the Desecrated, along with selections from her other books. One person wrote about her poetry, “Mary Buchinger follows a meandering narrow path earlier tried by Emily Dickinson and Louise Gluck and it brings her close to the essence of things.” Another wrote that Mary “chronicles moments that mesh the physical with the spiritual.”
