DESCRIPTION:The Portsmouth Athenaeum is delighted to welcome celebrated poe
 t Mary Buchinger for a special reading on Sunday\, April 26. Mary is the a
 uthor of six full-length books of poetry. She served on the board of the N
 ew England Poetry Club for many years and presently teaches at the Massach
 usetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston.\n\nMary will rea
 d from her new book\, There Is Only the Sacred and the Desecrated\, along 
 with selections from her other books. One person wrote about her poetry\, 
 "Mary Buchinger follows a meandering narrow path earlier tried by Emily Di
 ckinson and Louise Gluck and it brings her close to the essence of things.
 " Another wrote that Mary "chronicles moments that mesh the physical with 
 the spiritual."\n\nThere will be a book signing and a reception following
