The opening of our new exhibit, Part III of Treasures of the Athenaeum, “The Somnolent Years” will be on Friday, July 7, 2017, in the Randall Gallery.  This is the feature of Art Around Town in the Gallery from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

While the 20th century brought two World Wars and the Great Depression to the streets outside, life inside the door of the Athenaeum continued at a remarkably quiet and unfurled pace.  So much so that in the early years of the new century, the board was approached with a proposal to turn the downstairs Reading Room into a Red Cross Tea Room!

Come visit our exhibit to learn what changes occurred at the Athenaeum during this period.  This exhibit is open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
