RASA STRING QUARTET

at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 Chapel Street, Portsmouth

Formed in 2019, the Boston-based Rasa String Quartet is quickly emerging as one of New England’s finest ensembles and consists of violinists Maura Shawn Scanlin and Kiyoshi Hayashi, violist Emma Powell, and cellist Mina Kim. They have performed across the US including appearances with Rockport Music, the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival in North Carolina, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society, Boston New Music Festival, and the Rockport Celtic Festival. Rasa String Quartet is passionate about performing powerful, engaging, and unconventional programs that are inspired by a wide variety of traditions, fuse multiple genres, highlight unknown composers, and make classical music culturally relevant.
