2025 Lecture Series: “A Goodly Place: The Construction and Character of the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion” offered by John Rule and Adi Rule - May 21, 2025 - 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Description
This year, the Portsmouth Athenæum Lecture Committee shares its appreciation for the many captivating aspects of our oceanside communities and a few historic settings elsewhere. We examine historic architecture, its preservation and adaptations. We are transported to the Isles of Shoals to explore its role in producing great art. Visits will also be made to some of the magnificent gardens found in and around the seacoast area. Each program begins at 5:30 pm in the Shaw Research Library of the Portsmouth Athenæum (unless otherwise noted). Online reservations for each program are required as seating is limited. If unable to keep a reservation, please email events@portsmouthathenaeum.org. Attendance at programs is free for Athenæum Proprietors, Subscribers and Friends. Guests and members of the public are welcome to attend the entire series by becoming a Friend of the Athenæum for as little as $25 per year. Admission to an individual program is $15.Upcoming Events
