Ukranian American Mariana Budjeryn will discuss “Ukraine’s Nuclear Disarmament and Its Impact on the Global Nuclear Order” with Proprietor Gil Barndollar as moderator. The Athenaeum is delighted to partner with the World Affairs Council of NH (WACNH) for the first time and welcomes Tim Horgan (Executive Director) who will make introductory remarks. A reception will follow, and copies of Mariana’s book Inheriting the Bomb, the collapse of the USSR and the nuclear disarmament of Ukraine will be available.
Mariana Budjeryn is a Senior Research Associate with the Project on Managing the Atom (MTA) at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center. Formerly, she held appointments as a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow with MTA, and the International Security Program, a fellow at Harvard’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, and as a visiting professor at Tufts University and Peace Research Institute Frankfurt. Mariana’s research focuses on the international non-proliferation regime, arms control, nuclear crises, and post-Soviet nuclear history. For more information, click here.
The program is part of the 2024 Current Events Series, and it begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Shaw Research Library of the Portsmouth Athenæum at 9 Market Square in Portsmouth, NH (unless otherwise noted).
