Historical Note

Odiorne Point was owned by the Odiorne family from 1660 until 1942 when the US Army took it over and named it Fort Dearborn. After World War II, the State of New Hampshire acquired the property and developed it into Odiorne Point State Park. The Seacoast Science Center opened at the park in June,1992. At first it was managed by the Audubon Society but since 2002 it has been independently managed by the Seacoast Science Center, Incorporated.
