  cured.\nThe 2025 Current Events lecture series opens with “Genomics and
  the Future of Humanity” by Proprietor Dr. Fred Schubert. The talk will 
 consider the history of genetics\, the determination of the DNA structure\
 , diagnosis and treatment of genetic code diseases and consideration of th
 e dramatic\, unsettling and wide-open future of genomic studies. Exemplary
  cases will help bring this very human story to life. Some science pertine
 nt to the topic will be considered as well.\n\nFor the 2025 Current Events
  Series\, each program begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Shaw Research Library (u
 nless otherwise noted). Online reservations for each program are required 
 as seating is limited. If unable to keep a reservation\, please call again
  to release the seat for someone else. Attendance at programs is free for 
 Athenæum Proprietors\, Subscribers\, and Friends. Guests and members of t
 he public are welcome to attend the entire series by becoming a Friend of 
 the Athenæum for as little as $25 per year. Admission to an individual pr
 ogram is $15.\n\nNote: Online registration is available until 24 hours bef
