Central4 Piano Quartet at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, N.H. 3 p.m.

This year’s program begins with Frank Bridge’s lush and romantic Phantasy in F# minor described by Benjamin Britten as “Brahms happily tempered with Faure.” Aaron Copland’s Piano Quartet follows, with his signature evocative spacious soundscapes, and then British composer William Walton’s exuberant Piano Quartet in D minor. The program will end with a romantic-era classic, the Andante Cantabile movement of Robert Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat – for dessert!

Members of The Central4 Piano Quartet are:  Meredith Crawford, viola, Elizabeth Hedman, violin, Timothy Durkovic, piano and Paula Fehrenbach, cello.
